Our Papa
by mathe | Saturday, July 4th, 2009 at 11:16 am | Life as I See it |There are just some beautiful things that I failed to blog about in June, when HotMomma was down due to transfer and renovation. One of these things was Father’s Day, a day which my children look forward to every year.
Personally, I love and respect my father and father-in-law all throughout the year and I always express this at every opportunity that I can. I pray for them, I text them and always desire nothing but their welfare. Regardless of their shortcomings, they still deserve my utmost respect and support and love. So, for me, a day in a year is just not that necessary to let them know that they are very precious to me.
My children, however, really look forward to this day of the year to make their Papa feel how much they love him. It is such an endearing thought that days before Father’s Day, they are already wondering what to give him. So, I encourage them and join them in expressing their love for their Papa.

- gifts for our Papa
Elijah, as always, expressed his appreciation through his art so two cards and a bookmark were his gifts. His card says: Dear Papa, thank you for being a good father to me. Whatever his understanding of the word “good” is, his words are a testament to my husband’s love for his sons.

Jonathan, on the other hand, tried his best to save his allowance to buy his Papa a shirt. In the end, I had to add to his own savings to be able to buy the gift. It’s the thought that counts, anyway. I can’t help but smile if I think of that one instance when his Papa was scolding him in the background for something wrong that he did while Jonathan and I were whispering to each other, discussing what gift he should give for Father’s Day.

During that day, we all went to church (as our practice is) to worship our Heavenly Father, from Whom our Papa derives his life, his strength, his ability to love us his family. A woman can never go wrong with a godly man for a husband and the father of her children, can she?
