Valentine’s Day Then and Now

by mathe | Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at 6:15 pm | Life as I See it |

It was a laid-back but wonderful day for me and my boys. I had the pleasure of waking up later than the usual 5:00 am and still had time to have my devotion before starting on preparing breakfast.

Last year, we celebrated Valentine’s Day very simply – going out for a meal at a fastfood outlet. This year, I did not expect anything – nothing at all. But the hubby planned for us to have a late lunch date (with our boys, of course) at a more glamorous place, if you like.

There was the same feeling of joy just being together as a family. The venue didn’t matter much but yes, the hubby’s thoughtfulness of bringing us to a more sophisticated place did make me love him even more.

The boys had fun, too, as they have grown more mature now, able to enjoy such quiet and subdued surroundings as the restaurant we went to.

Last year, they were more inclined to enjoy in a kid-friendly environment.

This was us last year.

And now, this year, I think we don’t look a bit older, do we?

Whatever, this year, as in any other year, I love this day because I am with these three hunks in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
