Beautiful Thoughts for a Beautiful 2009
by mathe | Friday, January 2nd, 2009 at 8:05 am | Life as I See it |I hope everybody had a grand time welcoming the new year and saying goodbye to 2008 (with all its woes, worries and its triumphs, too). We gathered in a friend’s house and watched the London party and 12-minute fireworks on TV. We had loads of food (of course we could not even finish a third of what we prepared) and had a quiet, hopeful and quite cheerful new year.
We arrived home at 4:00 am and went straight to bed. Our entire family got out of bed only at noontime on the first day of the year – not a great way to start the year, I know, but overall we just had a quiet day and we all felt rested albeit chilled to the bones.
When I checked my emails earlier today, I found a beautiful message. I am not a fan of forwarded messages but for once, I am happy to share one of those stuff we consider as junk. It is a powerpoint presentation but since I lack the technical skill to embed it on this page, I might as well just copy and paste its beautiful pieces of advice. It is quite long so it will take me two posts to complete it. Meanwhile, it will also give you time to ponder on its simple yet inspiring messages:
Take a 10 – 30 minute walk everyday and while you walk, smile.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes a day.
When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: “My purpose is to … today.”
Live with the three E’s – Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy and the three F’s – Faith, Family, Friends.
Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of six.
Dream more while you are awake.
Try to make at least three people smile each day.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn, pass all your tests. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like Algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
Life isn’t fair but it’s still good.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one else does.

Aren’t they beautiful thoughts? More to come in the next post. I hope you are encouraged by them. A blessed 2009 to everyone! God bless!
