Christmas Thoughts

That flu episode is out of the way now, with my little boy recovering fast already. I had to bring him back to the doctor yesterday (and yes, had to miss work, too) because he still had low-grade fever. But now, he is a lot better so I thank the Lord for the healing.

Last night, I have been wrapping some more of the presents to friends’ kids and I can’t help but feel excited over the coming holidays. After that brief spell of ill-health the past week, it’s a welcome change to be able to welcome Christmas through the various preparations I am doing – gift wrapping, planning activities and finalizing our December calendar.

There’s the Christmas fellowship we will be having with our Bible Study group, the rare family outing I want to have with just the hubby and the kids and of course, the parties to go to. We have also been in touch with family back home to give instructions about the gifts to buy for our nieces and nephews (at least on my hubby’s side of the family).

The magic of Christmas is at work in me again. Some 2000 years ago, a little baby lying in a manger gave the most unbelievable gift to humanity and that same spirit of giving echoes through the centuries until today.

Christmas. More than anything, it is the season to be hopeful, to be more generous and to be reminded that there is a God who demonstrates His love by giving. In John 3:16, it says: “For God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten Son.” (emphasis mine)

I hope you all have a wonderful time preparing for Christmas as well. It does not matter if we are in an economic rut. Joseph and Mary were penniless when they welcomed Jesus into their life on that first Christmas, anyway.
