It Finally Happened

Yes, it finally happened. Last Saturday, we were able to go to the pick-your-own farm we wanted to visit ages ago (was that only two weeks ago?). I got the freshly-picked veggies I have been longing for for the longest time.

We woke up to a glorious day. The sun was shining and there was an anticipation of a lovely Saturday. In fact, my older boy burst into a song thanking God that his prayers for a sunny weekend were answered.

Then when we were on our way, the heavens opened and drizzled all throughout our adventure at the farm. But we proceeded anyway and had a wonderful time picking and digging fresh fruits and vegetables. The country roads and the villages along the way were very beautiful.

Unfortunately, strawberry season is over so there were no strawberries for the kids. We found a few, though, which hubby and I sampled – they were sweet and juicy. It’s a shame to have missed them. But there were raspberries and blackberries so we settled for that. Here’s the hubby picking raspberries.

The kids had a great time, too. If the weather has been better, they might have had more time playing in the farm’s play area and enjoying our picnic food (which we brought home again to eat in the house). At any rate, my boys enjoyed taking turns pushing the wheel barrow. I think that was their main preoccupation that day. But at least, they saw how their carrots are harvested and where other veggies come from.

And this was me with my little boy:

But the real star of the day were these babies:

Those French beans at the bottom of the bowl were the first to be enjoyed when I turned them into this (yumyumyum!):

Next post will be From HotMomma’s Kitchen, where I will show you what became of those courgette blossoms/flowers. Til next post, guys!
