Summer and Blogging : The Uneasy Combination
by mathe | Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at 2:41 am | Life as I See it |I don’t like excuses. In fact, I will not offer any excuse for neglecting to post these past seven days… It’s just that I was so busy, that’s all.
Hey, that’s not an excuse – that is an explanation. Honest (with a straight face, trying hard not to smile).
Seriously, summertime has finally come here in England and the whole family is excited about it. In fact, my hubby and I have been planning all the activities we will be doing with the kids. It’s the first real summer we will be having here because last year was so wet and rainy I was thinking maybe the next great flooding of the world was happening.
This summer, we are determined to make the most of the sunshiny days after going through our first and a particularly bitter winter. We will take the kids to see other places than our sleepy town, smell the flowers, watch the birds and go to just about any amusement park our Tesco vouchers will permit us.
This means that I will have to teach myself to strike a balance between enjoying the summer and maintaining two blogs which I’m sure, no more than 10 people read regularly, anyway. But hey, I enjoy blogging and what the heck, I will still keep my precious blogs, albeit, with fewer posts, perhaps this summer.
So, our first destination was Legoland Windsor! We went there last Saturday and needless to say, the kids had a blast – well, that includes their father. Look at these photos:

Aside from trips like this, there are also a lot of parties to go to during summer. Our Filipino community here in this part of the UK is quite robust, what with a major hospital in the area manned by Filipino nurses, who have brought their families with them. So, almost every other weekend, HotMomma finds herself cooking for some friend whose child is having a birthday party. Well, that might be an exaggeration. I’m sometimes asked to cook a dish, that’s all.
Then, there is the string of Barrio Fiestas to go to. Barrio Fiestas here are gatherings (akin to fairs) of Filipinos where there are cultural shows and a lot of Filipino merchandise – mostly food, Pinoys being known for their being food addicts. We will be going to London two weeks from now for a big BF there.
Before I forget, there are car boot sales to go to as well. I love going to these sales because people from Western countries have a penchant for buying things they do not need and then end up not using them at all. When de-cluttering season comes (usually in the spring, right before summer time when car boot sales season happens), they get rid of all these band new items for dirt cheap prices.
So, there you go. You can see how busy this summer will be for me. But I will make sure I will post some substantial ones. And speaking of “substantial”, here is a sample of the posts I will be doing soon…
Hope this won’t put you off stopping by to visit after this. See you later, folks!
